  i was blown with how much former members sound like ex jehovah's witnesses.

  my mom called me yesterday to ask how i was doing.

  i hadn't seen her in a while, so it was nice to hear her voice.

  we went through the motions of jw small talk and then she started telling me about her co visit from last week.

  This has been WAY over thought on this thread.  Its like saying "Soon Jehovahs name will be vindicated and we will receive our reward!"  or "Soon this wicked system will perish".

  Its just another way of reminding people it could happen tomorrow, so give generously and don't go to college.

  I used to work for a Mormon and a Catholic who were both Scientology.  Scientology own a management company that helps you run a small business.  Our office was FULL of Scientology lingo.  Some people even did E meter tests.  Bizarre.

  ST's greatest similarity with JW's is "disconnection".  They "declare you a suppressive person".  They call it a SUP for short.  There is even a tribunal for it.  Its the same thing as disfellowshipping.

  I would HIGHLY recommend a book by a New Yorker staff writer called "Going Clear: Scientology, Hollywood, and the prison of belief."  Reading it helped wake up my wife a bit.  its facinating.  JW's even get an honorable mention in the back along with some other religions regarding control etc....Its like a sentence......but still.

  If you only read one book about Scientology.....that is the one.

  Oh wow.  That is a trip.

  I can guarantee this could not have been made without someones go ahead.  they are in offices, and the floor overseers and home elders would have to give the OK. 

  Well good for them I guess.   A little behind the general zeitgeist (weren't Happy videos going down like a year ago?), but good for them.

  Sheesh.  At least someone in his family turned him in.  I don't want to jump to conclusions and implicate the branch or the people in the congregation.  As of now we don't know enough to know if he abused anyone physically, or used his position to do so.  But it would of course not surprise me.

  Elders schools is another opportunity to indoctrinate those who will indoctrinate others.  You also throw another "special privilege" their way in having this school.

  We aren't encouraging individuals to pursue higher education in order to help......BUT.....if you happened to do so, come and join us at Gods house!

  I also think its interesting that the BOE is asked to use discretion in approaching people in the hall.  Wasn't there just another letter asking for graphic designers read aloud to the KH?

  Honestly Simon I think having ARS around is fantastic.  He/she refuses to engage in actual discussion and with the level of vitriol spewing it serves as a fine witness.

  hey everyone, this is my first post.

  i was contacted by the witnesses in1965, baptized in that same year at age 15. i was appointed an elder in 1975 and served as an elder for 20 years..

  it hasnt been long since i learn ttatt and when i totally woke up.
